Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed (medium coat) Cat

Rascal the Cat needs a home

Born October 8, 2017

When Rascal came to AC PAW, he was a bottle baby just two to three weeks old. After the first few days in his foster home, his foster mom noticed that he was having trouble walking. Rascal was diagnosed with Cerebellar Hyploplasia, a disorder that occurs when the cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls fine motor skills and coordination, is not completely mature at birth, causing jerky movements, tremors and generally uncoordinated movements. It is passed on from the mother during pregnancy if she contracted a virus, suffered from malnutrition or if a trauma occured to her kittens while still in the womb. CH is non progressive, which means it does not worsen with age.

Rascal has a normal life expectancy and can live a

happy, healthy life. He is not in any pain and is not contagious. He i

s a very affectionate, very playful, sweet and loving four month old

kitten who will learn to adapt and compensate for his disability.

With time, he many have the ability to walk, run, jump and climb

stairs.  His foster mom says he is high energy and will definitely

need a buddy to help burn up some of that energy.

Rascal will require care, but he will return the extra care he will

need with an intense love for and bond with his adoptive family.

AC PAW is looking for a foster home or a foster to

adopt family for Rascal.  If you would like to foster or adopt Rascal,

please  fill out a pre-adoption

questionnaire. His foster mom will call you to set up a meet and

greet.
